Can you believe we are already 90 days into 2023? I swear every year goes faster than the last.
This is a great time to check in on your new year resolutions, goals, and intentions. The first thing I like to do is look at what I set as goals for the new year and evaluate if they are still goals 90 days in to the year. Sometimes we think we want to focus on one area of our life but then realize that is not the direction we want to go in.
Read through all your goals and intensions are they still relevant? The ones that aren’t, you can either re-frame them and create new goals or just delete what is not relevant anymore.
Now it’s time to dig into the goals that you set and evaluate where you are 90 days into the year. Most goals should have small goals along the way to measure how you are doing and if you are on track to accomplish the “big” goal.
Here are two examples of goals I set and how I do a 90 day assessment:
- Invest a certain amount of money.
- Slow down the biological aging of my body.
The first goal is very straight forward every year I have a dollar amount I want to invest, I then divide that number by 12 so I know now much every month has to go into my investment account and I set up automatic payment to this account. It’s very easy to see if I am on track because it’s an even allocation throughout the year. As long as I don’t change the amount that automatically comes out I will hit my goal. I consider this type of goals, an “easy” ones. This doesn’t cause me to have to change habits.
Let’s talk about my second goal, this is what I would call a “hard” goal, slowing down my biological aging process, the age of my cells, organs, and body. Your biological age can be changed by things like diet, exercise, stress levels, and sleep quality, changing your habits can make a big difference in how your body ages.
Because this as one of my goals, it means that I have to do certain things every day to live as healthy as I can, in hopes that when I retest at the end of the year, I will have slowed down my bodies aging process. So during my 90 day check in these are the types of questions I ask myself: Am I following the regiment that I laid out? Is there anything that I want to change? Do I need to stop doing something? Do I need to start doing something? Also, have I learned more about this subject, is there a book, podcast, or video I could watch to educate myself even more?
In next weeks newsletter I will give you some examples of how you too can reduce your biological age in case you are interested.
Now it’s time for you to look at your goals for 2023 and see if you are on track to accomplishing them or do they need to change? Remember you are 42% more likely to reach your goals just by righting them down. Having a plan increases that success rate even more.
