Must Read Summer Book Recommendations

Must Read Summer Book Recommendations

I love to go on vacation and read, whether it’s on the plane ride, sitting on the beach, or in a hotel room. I always feel like I have more time to relax and read a good book. I thought I would share some book recommendations since summer has officially started. I will warn you I don’t read fiction books so all my recommendations are non-fiction books that will have you grown in some way. I do read a variety of different non-fiction books so there should be at least one that you would enjoy.

Can’t Hurt Me, by David Goggins

This is my all-time favorite book! This book is all about building mental toughness, I could not put this book down. He is hard core, has the mouth of a sailor, but is extremely motivating. If you are looking for a no excuses, get your butt in gear, motivational book this is for you.

The Power of Positive Energy: Everything You Need to Awaken Your Soul, Raise Your Vibration, and Manifest an Inspired Life by Tanaaz Chubb

I found this book randomly no one suggested it but it looked interesting, and I am so glad I did, it was another book I could not put down, it is all about how to change your energy and truly live into who you are. Some people might think this book is too “woo-woo” but it a great, easy read. If you have ever done or considered Reiki or any other energy healing, I really think you would enjoy this book.

Stolen Focus: Why You Can’t Pay Attention, and How to Think Deeply Again by Johann Hari

I read this book about a year ago and it still resonates with me and talk about it quite often, for me that means it’s a good book. I even bought this book for a doctor I would with who focuses on patients with ADD and ADHD. If you too feel like electronics and other things in our environment are causing us to not be able to focus this is the book for you. I think all parents and teachers should read this book. It’s very insightful, especially if you have or work with children.

The Mountain is You: Transforming Self-Sabotage into Self-Mastery by Brianna Wiest

Everyone has trauma in their life, it might not be earth shattering but it is still trauma and usually we do not deal with it until we have to, and unfortunately, we usually find it easier to blame others than to work on it. This book teaches you how to stop doing that and become the master of your life. Even if you don’t think you need to read this you do!

The New Rules of Aging Well: A Simple Program for Immune Resilience, Strength, and Vitality, by Dr. Frank Lipman

I know I have talked about this book before, it was actually the book for our February Joy Box, but I truly believe EVERYONE should read this book, no matter what age you are, it’s very easy to read and has great information about what you should be doing now to preserve your body from aging, and living your best, healthy life as you age.

Leading with Gratitude: Eight Leadership Practices for Extraordinary Business Results by Adrian Gostick

I wanted to add one professional growth book to my list, if you are a leader or want to be a leader, I can’t think of a better way to lead than with gratitude. This book has 8 different ways to focus on becoming a leader and focusing on gratitude. I highly encourage anyone who currently leads people or wants to lead people to read this book.

The Book of Boundaries: Set the Limits That Will Set You Free by Melissa Urban

The more I work with life coaching clients the more I realize how important setting boundaries are and that most people have difficulty setting and holding boundaries for themselves. Boundaries are not selfish; they are necessary and very beneficial to you overall wellbeing. If you are a people pleaser, this is a must read for you.

I would love any book recommendations, email info@live-joy.com
