Do You Use Affirmations?

Do You Use Affirmations?

Affirmations might be something you are familiar with but maybe they are not. Affirmations are positive statements that can help you develop confidence, overcome negative thoughts and challenges.  I know some people are say “what does that even mean?” I know this because I was “some people.” I have heard about affirmations but never really thought too much of them, okay honestly I thought, “you want me to talk to myself in a positive way, what am I five!”

And yes it might sound like that, but the more I read and learned about the benefits of using affirmations the more interested I got. So I am hoping once you hear the benefits you decide to start using affirmations.

Some Benefits of affirmations:

Decrease stress
Increase wellbeing
Reduce negative thoughts
Helps cardiovascular health
Improves confidence and self-esteem
Reduces negative thoughts
Eases depression
helps overcome limiting beliefs
Improves sleep

There are many different ways to use affirmations, you can say them out loud to yourself throughout the day, you can have a dedicated time to say your affirmations, you can even  do affirmation meditations. You can do affirmations for many different area of your life, for example you can focus on self-love, goals, health, abundance, etc.  I find, like with most things, if you create a habit around it, you are more likely to do it.

Here are some examples:

Morning affirmations – When you get up in the morning have a post it on your mirror and look at yourself in the mirror and say them out loud. This is a fantastic way to start your day, it starts your morning with positivity.

Bedtime affirmations- Before you go to bed is a great time to reset your energy from the day and using affirmations is a great way you do that, going to bed with positive thoughts top of mind is important.

Throughout the day affirmations- I am a posted note “queen” at my desk I have post it notes with affirmations on them to remind me throughout the day to just stop and say them out loud. One of my go to affirmations is “I can do hard things.”

Affirmation meditations- The Insight Timer App has great 5 min or less affirmation mediations, you can do these throughout your day, they are great for car rides, walks, or any other time.

Okay, I know you want some examples of actual affirmations! I have a few different categories of affirmations.

I hope these affirmations are helpful, to be honest you can create your own, you know what positive talk you need. The hard part is actually making the time to do it, just remember it’s free and it’s less than 3 mins a day. This week’s challenge is find 3 affirmations that you want to focus on this week and make time at least once a day to say them out loud.
