Do Something You Have Been Putting Off

Do Something You Have Been Putting Off

This week I decided to do something that I never would’ve done 20 years ago, 10 years ago, or even 5 years ago… I got a tattoo on my right wrist. Now this might seem insignificant to some people because getting a tattoo is nothing crazy or different. In fact, I have two other tattoos already…one on my lower back and one on my lower hip, so why am I sharing the story about my new tattoo?

Well, we all grow up with different stories and limiting beliefs. And having a tattoo that people can see, was one “Story” that I grew up with. The last 20 years I have been in the corporate world working my way up the ladder to an executive roll, and the story that I tell myself is that professionals do not have tattoos that people can see. What would people think if I had a tattoo on my arm or my foot or my hand, etc? Because professionals don’t do that. I have been wanting a very simple tattoo that says be uncommon and to me it has great significant because I always want to challenge myself to do things that others won’t do and do things that people question “why are you doing that?” I don’t want to be like everybody else, I want to push myself to be uncommon and yet I was not being my authentic self because I was afraid of what others would think if I had something as simple as a tattoo showing. I know this can sound crazy to some but I’m sure there’s something in your life that you want to do and you’re not doing it because you’re worried about what others might think or say or even judge you for and that is the point of this newsletter.

It’s time to stop worrying about what other people will think or say and do the thing that YOU want to do. If a company doesn’t want me to work for them or a client doesn’t want to work with me because of a tattoo on my wrist, then I wasn’t supposed to work for them or with them. And that is okay!

Stop making yourself small or holding yourself back from what you want, because of fear of judgment or what other people might think. Do the thing that you have been putting off!! You only get one life, make it what YOU want it to be.
